Kim Jong-un threatened to cancel the meeting with Trump because of US military exercises in South Korea
North Korea announced the cancellation of the summit with representatives of South Korea because of American military exercises held on the territory of this state.

In addition, Kim Jong-un threatened to cancel the meeting scheduled for June with US President Donald Trump, writes Fox News with reference to the state media of the DPRK.
Pyongyang believes that the military exercises held were a rehearsal for a potential invasion of their country.
It was expected that the meeting of North and South Korean officials would be a continuation of the historic summit, which was held in April between North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and South Korean president Mun Ji-Ying. Then the politicians discussed the issue of denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
“These drills in South Korea directed against us are a blatant violation of the Panmunjom Declaration and a deliberate military provocation that runs counter to the positive political development on the Korean Peninsula,” North Korean state media said in a statement.
“The United States will also have to conduct careful negotiations on the fate of the planned meeting between the leaders of North Korea and the United States in light of this provocative military action carried out jointly with the South Korean authorities,” the DPRK noted.
The canceled meeting of the leaders of North and South Korea was to be held on 16 May. Trump and Kim Jong-un meeting scheduled for June 12 in Singapore.
