Gardens of Eden: thousands of tulips bloom in California

Crystal Hermitage, located in Nevada City, is a beautiful garden that attracts visitors from all over the world. Tulips bloom here every year in large numbers. It is filled with many gorgeous flowers and plants. The spring tulip bloom is certainly one of the most exciting events of the season. Cost and time of visit

Tickets:

• General Admission (ages 13 and up): $12,50 weekdays; $15 - on weekends;
• Admission for children (3-12 years): $5.

Optional: vegetarian lunch at Expanding Light Retreat. Served at 12:30. Cost $15.

There are also season passes: unlimited visits - $28. You must select a date and time for your first visit, but the pass will be valid for the entire season.

No tickets are required to visit the garden until April 10, but a $10 donation is suggested.

Opening hours:

• Sunday - from 13:30 to 16:00 (upper gardens only);
• Monday - from 9:00 to 12:30, from 13:30 to 17:00;
• Tuesday is a day off;
• Wednesday - from 9:00 to 12:30, from 13:30 to 17:00;
• Thursday - from 13:30 to 16:00 (upper gardens only);
• Friday - from 9:00 to 12:30, from 13:30 to 17:00;
• Saturday - from 13:30 to 16:00 (upper gardens only).

Blooming beauty

Every spring you can see up to 20 blooming tulips in the garden. This year, the team planted more than 000 varieties of mid- to late-season Dutch bulbs. April blooms are expected to be as abundant and vibrant as ever. That's an almost incomprehensible amount of color!

Visitors can watch the blooms six days a week (Crystal Hermitage is closed on Tuesdays). Walking through the garden with winding paths, waterfalls, a temple and multiple pools while the tulips are in bloom is a fantastic experience.

History of the place

Considered one of the most popular places to visit in Nevada City, Crystal Hermitage began as the home of Swami Kriyananda. The Hindu religious leader wrote about 140 books and 400 pieces of music during his stay here. Kriyananda was one of the founders of Ananda, a worldwide spiritual movement founded in the 1960s.

The gardens were built as a place for meditation, prayer and enjoying nature. Regardless of one's beliefs, there is no denying that a garden is the perfect place to relax while basking in nature.

Spring is certainly a great time to visit the garden, but in summer there is also something to see here. In July and August, visitors can enjoy an abundance of roses, begonias, geraniums, petunias, marigolds and other flowers.
