Forbes Advisor has compiled a list of the 25 worst travel destinations where you can get sick quickly. Time-out.

Imagine saving up for your dream vacation, planning for months, using your free time from work, and then getting sick as soon as you land?

It's a nightmare scenario - and we've probably all been in it at some point. But you may be able to avoid this in the future, thanks to Forbes Advisor Travel Bug Index, which lists the 25 global destinations where travelers are most likely to get sick.

To compile the list, Forbes looked at more than 2,4 million Tripadvisor reviews containing terms such as salmonella, gastroenteritis, E. coli, and food poisoning. They then rated the destinations in each category to create a Travel Bug Index on a scale of 0 to 100.

A study has shown that in Punta Cana, in the Dominican Republic, you are most likely to contract something nasty. Punta Cana has an index of 90,4, followed by Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt with 83,5.

Another destination in the top three is Sal Island in Cape Verde with an index of 70,6.

Here are the top 10 riskiest destinations around the world:

• Sal, Cape Verde.
• Playa del Carmen, Mexico.
• Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
• Bali, Indonesia.
• Hurghada, Egypt.
• Tulum, Mexico.
• Boa Vista, Cape Verde.
• Cancun, Mexico.

The company used the same methodology to rank European destinations where you are most likely to get sick while traveling.

Here are the 10 most unreliable destinations in Europe:

• Benidorm, Spain.
• London, Great Britain.
• Sunny Beach, Bulgaria.
• Paris, France.
• Tenerife, Spain.
• Menorca, Spain.
• Mallorca, Spain.
• Rome, Italy.
• Zante, Greece.
• Mykonos, Greece.
