How to see the Grand Canyon by train: this is a luxurious trip you will remember for a long time

You can travel to the Grand Canyon on the historic Grand Canyon Railway, which takes visitors from Williams, Arizona to the canyon's south rim, reports Insider.

“Over the years, most of my hikes have ended with injury, from a sprained ankle to falling into a cactus after someone pushed me while trying to walk forward on a trail,” says Athena Sobhan, a correspondent for Business Insider. So she found a safer way to enjoy the beauty of nature.

The two-hour, 15-minute train ride offers stunning views of prairie and pine forests as guests travel to Grand Canyon National Park.

Guests can choose from six classes ranging in price from $67 for the most basic Pullman class to $226 for a luxurious clear dome with 360-degree views of the magnificent scenery.

For her trip, Athena decided to purchase first class tickets to the Grand Canyon and luxury dome tickets on the way back.

By booking a package that included train tickets and hotel accommodations on both ends of the trip and taking advantage of the AAA discount, she paid just $174 for the round-trip train ride.

First class carriage - a taste of luxury

En route to Grand Canyon National Park, Athena opted for a first class car with large reclining seats and large windows that allowed views of the plains and lush forests during the 100-mile journey.

The ticket also included plenty of snacks and drinks to enjoy along the way. They mainly offered fruits, baked goods, packaged snacks and drinks.

Soda and water were free, but alcoholic drinks were available for an additional cost.

Sitting in the luxurious, glass-domed carriage on the way back to Williams was a truly out-of-this-world experience, Athena says.

Before the start of the trip, everyone was treated to a free glass of sparkling wine to celebrate the trip together.

“The large 360-degree view windows provided more spectacular views of the forests and plains and gave us a new perspective on nature,” she says.

The seats were comfortable and there was enough legroom for everyone to sit together without any problem, she said.

Overall, the Grand Canyon Railroad trip was worth it, she said.

“When I got to the Grand Canyon, I took the easy trail. I liked that we could experience other parts of nature without having to hike too long,” says Athena. “I was able to see everything I wanted, and even more.” Riding the Grand Canyon Railway was an experience I will never forget.”
