Mamie Walker was tired of the government suddenly stopping her social security payments, leaving her unable to pay her rent and buy food. She said it was all due to a mistake that no one can explain.

Walker has not received benefits for the past two months. She received a letter from the U.S. Social Security Administration saying she owed more than $237 in “overpayments” and would not receive benefits until September 000.

She will be 100 years old.

“You know I don’t have that kind of money, baby,” Walker said. “If they were, I wouldn’t call you about this.”

Walker said she was afraid of how she would pay her bills, and her landlord was already taking on late fees.

“My kids don’t have anything to help me, so I’m in a hole,” Walker said.

This is the second time Walker has turned to Better Call Behnken for help after her Social Security benefits were cut.

In 2019, the government said Walker owed more than $ 200000 in an old student loan. Walker, who had never attended college, had no idea what this was about.

Then a spokesman for the Social Security Administration promised investigator Shannon Behnken that they would investigate. Then Walker benefits were reinstated and so far there have been no problems.

Walker's son, Morrison Walker, said he was tired and worried about his mother.

“She worked her whole life to keep Social Security money coming in, and now they're taking it away from her,” he said.

A spokesman for the Social Security Administration said they would investigate again and try to help Walker return her benefits.
