7 September Elon Musk came to the American comedian Joe Rogan in his podcast "Joe Rogan Experience", which was recorded live. During the 2,5-hour stream, Rogan began to smoke a “twist” (2: 10: 00 in the video). The head of Tesla and Space X clarified whether it was legal in California, after which it dragged in once.

Musk: Is it a joint? Or a cigar?

Rogan: It's marijuana with tobacco. Tried it?

Musk: I think it was once.

Rogan: You probably won't be because of the shareholders.

Musk: Is it legal?

Rogan: Completely.

Musk: Okay. * Drags on *

As noted by The Guardian journalist Julia Wong, a few minutes later, Mask began to receive messages on the phone.

“Friends are writing to me in the style of“ What the hell do you smoke weed? ”,“ The businessman said on the air. Musk also noted that he rarely smokes marijuana and does not notice any effect from it.

In August, 2018, The New York Times, citing sources on the Tesla board of directors, said Musk was taking recreational drugs. Also in social networks they suspected that he wrote a tweet about the privatization of the company under the influence of “weed” because of the intention to set the price for a share at the mark of 420 dollars. During the recording of the podcast, Musk repeated that he considered marijuana harmful for his own productivity.

After the end of the recording, Musk posted a video version of the interview on Twitter. And the majority of commentators discussed the smoking of “weed” on the air.

"Joe Rogan Experience" is one of the most popular podcasts in the US, notes Bloomberg. In addition to the marijuana episode, in the episode Musk spoke about the state of affairs in Tesla, his own mental health and attitudes towards negative comments in social networks.
