State Department spokesman John Kirby called the US Armed Forces the best in the world. Thus, he indirectly disputed Russian President Vladimir Putin’s assertion that the Russian army is currently stronger than any enemy, writes “Voice of America«.

Speaking on Thursday at the annual expanded meeting of the collegium of the Ministry of Defense, Putin said:

“At the same time, taking into account very many factors, including not only the military, but also our history, geography, the internal state of Russian society, we can say with confidence: today we are stronger than any potential aggressor. Anyone. "

Not mentioning Putin by name, State Department spokesman John Kirby stated:

“America has every right to be proud of men and women in uniform who protect the interests of the country around the world, and their ability to do so. I believe that the professionalism, skills and potential inherent in the US military are indisputable, ”added Kirby.

Responding to a question about whether the actions of Russia in Ukraine or Syria provided superiority to its armed forces, Kirby dismissed this assumption: “I don’t think so. I don’t think that in the whole history of mankind there existed armed forces possessing the same potential, intellect, strength, skillful leadership and resources, as the US armed forces are now ”.

The very next day, Putin recognized the power and advanced equipment of the US armed forces, noting that "no one argues with this."

“To be honest, I was surprised by the statements of other official representatives of the current administration, who for some reason began to argue that the United States Armed Forces are the most powerful in the world. Nobody argues with this, ”Putin said on Friday.

According to him, the United States has more weapons, but Russia does not even try to deny it.

Putin stressed that in his speech on Thursday, he meant literally what he said - “any aggressor”, making it clear that he does not include the United States in this category.

Putin also noted that he was not surprised by the statements of the elected US President Donald Trump about intent to improve nuclear forces of the country.

“As for the elected President of the United States, Mr. Trump, there is no novelty here. During his election campaign, he spoke about the need to strengthen the US nuclear component, about strengthening the armed forces, there is nothing unusual here,” he said.

The president noted that new submarines, airplanes and nuclear forces are also being built in Russia.

Unusual in Putin’s statements was his decision to comment on political battles in the United States and publicly express sympathy for the Republican Party, while criticizing the Democratic Party.

“The fact that Republicans in the United States sympathize with the Russian president, I see signs that they have the same ideas about the structure of the world, about values, with us. This is a good premise to build a good relationship, ”he said.

According to him, today's administration shares the American nation. He also denied accusations that Russia was involved in the hacking of the servers of the Democratic Party in order to help the election of Donald Trump.
