New arms race: US and Russia plan to build up nuclear potential

Избранный президент США Дональд Трамп объявил, что будет «расширять и укреплять» ядерный потенциал США, передает CNN. Это заявление прозвучало буквально через несколько часов после того, как Владимир Путин заявил об аналогичных планах.

«Соединенные Штаты обязаны значительно укрепить и расширить свой ядерный потенциал до тех пор, пока мир не образумится», — написал Трамп в Твиттере несколько часов назад.

The elected president of the United States announced a nuclear build-up literally a few hours after the Russian president made a similar threat. At the expanded meeting of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation Putin said:

«Надо укреплять боевой потенциал стратегических ядерных сил, прежде всего за счёт ракетных комплексов, способных гарантированно преодолевать существующие и перспективные системы противоракетной обороны». Речь главы российского государства звучала весьма угрожающе.

«Стратегические ядерные силы поддерживаются на уровне, позволяющем гарантированно решать задачи ядерного сдерживания», — объявил Путин. И подчеркнул, что в российских вооруженных силах идет обновление ядерной триады.

Just a few hours after that, Trump met with the 3 generals of the USAF. As discussed by CNN, they discussed the development and strengthening of the nuclear triad. Military officials remind that the triad is called a complex of nuclear weapons on the ground, in the air and at sea.

О развитии ядерного щита Трамп говорил еще в ходе предвыборной кампании. А американские военные уже подсчитали, что на выполнение планов нового президента им потребуется $18 миллиардов в год — на срок до 15 лет. В общей сложности модернизация ядерной триады США обойдется бюджету в $270 млрд.
