Frontier launches flights from New Jersey: 15 destinations from $ 15 one way

In November 2019, Frontier Airlines plans to launch service in Newark, New Jersey, thereby intending to capitalize on the upcoming Southwest Airlines departure.

The low-cost carrier, which now offers only a few flights to and from New York, decided not to start small and immediately offered 15 daily flights, writes USA Today.

Frontier will offer non-stop daily flights between Newark and 15 cities, including Las Vegas, Orlando, Phoenix, Atlanta, Chicago and Dallas, airline executives announced on 27 on August. According to them, this is the biggest expansion that they have done in the new city.

The first series of flights starts in November, the next ones in December and spring.

Tickets for seven cities go on sale today at frontier websiteand tariffs start from 15 dollars one way on most routes on Tuesday and Wednesday. On routes it is possible to take advantage of the offer for free flights childrenavailable to members of Discount Den.

Tickets for the remaining routes will go on sale later. All routes will be year-round, with the exception of West Palm Beach, Florida; Cancun, Mexico and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

Frontier CEO Barry Biffle said that the metropolitan area around New York has long been a major gap on the Frontier route map, and Southwest's exit allows the airline to enter that area. Starting November 3, Southwest will consolidate its operations in the New York area at La Guardia Airport, freeing up hard-to-reach take-off and landing areas, as well as gates in Newark, he said.

Frontier, which already serves Trenton, New Jersey and Philadelphia in the region, is still a quiet player in Newark. The airport is a major hub of United. In addition, Frontier will not be the only low-cost airline in this region: Spirit Airlines also offers flights to Newark.

Southwest has 20 daily flights from Newark to 10 cities, including Baltimore, Chicago, Denver and Phoenix. Representatives of the airline said that financially, routes are not the most low-cost, and this makes the small company Frontier think that low costs will help to find their customers here.

Tickets are sold on the first seven routes. Rates start from 15 dollars one way. Flights do not fly on holidays due to low entry fares, there are restrictions on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

• Newark - Orlando: twice daily
• Newark - Miami: twice daily
• Newark - San Juan, Puerto Rico: daily

New routes starting December 10:

• Newark - Phoenix: daily
• Newark - Atlanta: daily
• Newark - West Palm Beach, Florida: daily

New routes in March and April of 2020:

(Frequency will be determined, but Frontier hopes to offer daily service for these routes.)

• Newark - Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
• Newark - Cancun, Mexico
• Newark to Denver
• Newark - Ontario, California
• Newark to Chicago
• Newark-Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina
