The brother of a famous Russian actress was arrested in the United States: he is suspected of brutal double murder of a Russian-speaking family

The sister of the suspect, who is accused of the brutal murder of two men in Massachusetts, turned out to be the famous Russian actress Ekaterina Volkova, star of the TV series “Voronin”. She issued a statement in defense of her brother.

When men from Medford (Massachusetts), 28-year-old Pavel Vekshin and 37-year-old Kirill Shchukin, stopped communicating, friends and colleagues turned to the police. On April 9, Vekshin and Shchukin were officially declared missing. Although they disappeared much earlier - no one has seen them or talked to them on the phone since March 30.

15 April the bodies of these previously missing men were found in a warehouse iStorage on North Beacon Street in Boston. One of them was dismembered.

Pavel Vekshin was a photographer, led an interesting telegram channel about Boston, and his husband, Kirill Shchukin, worked in field cyber security. The men were legally married.

Both men died from multiple stab wounds and their bodies were found inside plastic bins. Shchukin's body was dismembered and laid out piecemeal in several of these tanks.

On April 16, Leonid Volkov, 37, from Medford, who knew both victims, was charged with murder.

Investigators found that Shchukin was the guarantor under the lease agreement for Volkov's apartment in Medford. However, recently Shchukin refused to be a guarantor for the renewal of the lease, as a result of which Volkov was evicted from this apartment.

“Shchukin recently refused to be a guarantor under a lease agreement, and this refusal led to a quarrel and Volkov’s eviction from the apartment,” the prosecutor’s office said.

Investigators determined that Volkov and Shchukin met in a rented U-Haul truck that Volkov drove on March 29. The truck was also found in the warehouse where the bodies were found. In addition, witnesses saw them together that day.

Volkov was arrested on April 15 in the evening in Attleboro and is expected to appear in Somerville District Court on April 18.

Later it became known that Leonid Volkov is the younger brother of actress Ekaterina Volkova, best known for her role as Vera in the TV series Voronins.
The actress at first did not comment on the news about her brother's arrest, but on April 23 she wrote a big post on social networks.

She admitted that the suspect who was arrested on charges of a brutal double murder is her brother.

“My family and I are currently in shock. We are trying to establish contact with the brother and his lawyer, but so far this has not been possible. We don’t have more information than you, and we’re trying to figure out everything that happened,” the actress wrote.

However, she stressed that the family does not doubt Volkov's innocence, loves and does not disown him.

“This is some kind of terrible dream. I pray that everything will be resolved quickly and that my brother will be free,” she wrote.

At the end, the actress thanked fans and journalists for empathy.

“Your support, sensitivity and respect give me strength in these difficult days. I could lock myself away from the whole world, but I choose to walk this path with you,” she wrote.
