TikTok user wanted to pay for strangers shopping at the supermarket, but everyone refused and brought her to tears

Amelia Goldsmith, who lives in London, went to the nearest Sainsbury's with the intention of paying for someone's purchases. She said that in this way she wanted to "cheer up some stranger." But after several unsuccessful attempts, Goldsmith did not find anyone who would accept her proposal, reports Insider.

“I’m nervous,” she said in a Tik Tok video that has been viewed nearly 700 times. “I just hope they don’t think I’m some kind of weirdo.”

Finally she said that she was sad and depressed.

“It was really stressful,” she told the camera. “I expected the first person to be overjoyed, grateful and happy that I would pay for his purchases, but obviously no one liked it.”

First, Goldsmith approached a man in a store who was checking out his products. She told him that she wanted to pay for his purchases, which he promptly refused.

"It really isn't necessary," he said, with Goldsmith adding in the caption to the video that he looked "angry."

Goldsmith tried to ask the other person, who also said no. Goldsmith said she felt "embarrassed and condemned" at this point.

After that, Goldsmith said that the people she asked were taken aback by her offer. One of them looked at her as "an absolute fool," she said. She began to cry, saying that the experience brought "overwhelming emotions" to her.

Goldsmith said she instead bought pasta and sauces to put in the grocery cart at the grocery store. These boxes are meant to collect donations for people who cannot afford food.

“I’m still very happy that the food can go to those who really need it,” she said. “I’m just very stunned right now, I don’t know what’s going on.”
