Airline mistakenly sent dog instead of Tennessee to Saudi Arabia

British Airways mistakenly shipped the family's dog from Nashville, Tennessee to Saudi Arabia. Writes about it New York Post.

A family moving from London, UK to Tennessee was shocked when they arrived at Nashville International Airport and received the wrong dog.

“They said our dog was not in Nashville. According to them, she was in Saudi Arabia,” said Madison Miller, referring to her 5-year-old dog named Bluebell.

About an hour later, airport officials sent her a picture of Bluebell locked in a box and confirmed that she was in Saudi Arabia. The distance between the US and Saudi Arabia is approximately 7 miles (500 km).

Miller was worried and worried about how they would send Bluebell on a multi-hour flight. Especially after hearing "terrible stories" about dogs on planes.

For three days, Miller and her husband waited restlessly for their pet to be returned to them. However, when she was finally returned to her owners after three flights and 63 hours, they said that Bluebell had turned into a completely different dog.

“I was expecting something like the reunion you see on YouTube,” Miller suggested. “We thought she would come out and wag her tail and lick us.” But everything turned out the other way around.”

Instead, she ran away.

“We had to catch her because she was so terrified! And then we realized that something was wrong,” Miller said.

Since she moved into her new home in Brentwood, Bluebell's problems haven't gone away, she said. She often sits alone and whines, even gnawed through the door.

Miller demands answers as to how such a terrible confusion could have come about.

“They said this had never happened before. We don’t even understand how this could happen because there are so many safety checks,” the owner said, surprised.

British Airways sent a request for comment to cargo company IAG Cargo, which apologized for a "recent mistake made during Bluebell's trip to Nashville."

“We take the care of people's beloved animals seriously and are investigating how the diversion occurred,” the company said in a statement. “Although Bluebell's route was longer than it should have been, we made sure she was placed on the first flight back to Nashville from London Heathrow Airport.”

The company said that throughout her stay with them, the dog was given frequent treats, walks outside to stretch her legs - including regular walks and eight hours with the team at the Heathrow Animal Reception Center who cared for her.

“Despite these measures, we understand that this situation has been upsetting for Bluebell and its owners, and we are in contact with them to resolve the situation,” the company explained.

The owners of Bluebell hope to receive financial compensation from them for the mistake they made.
