Dental Assistant in Long Island stole patient jewelry during procedures

A dental assistant at the Long Island Clinic (New York) was arrested on charges of stealing jewelry from patients.

According to police, the robberies occurred after patients were given laughing gas, writes NBC.

Xnumx-year-old Arieta Guwakis was arrested at her home in Manerville around 38: February 00 30. She is accused of stealing the third and fourth degree and criminal possession of the stolen property.

According to police, Guwakis, a dental assistant at Long Island Implant and Cosmetic Dentistry, stole jewelry from two patients who were treated under her supervision on January 31 and February 1. According to law enforcement officers, none of the victims did not realize that her jewelry was gone until she left the dentist’s office.

Both women were under the influence of laughing gas while they were being robbed. Law enforcement officers managed to return the stolen property to the women, which they found in local pawn shops.

Police report that the dental office fully cooperated with the investigation as soon as the management was informed of the charges against their employee. Dr. Nick Augenbaum called the theft a terrible act and condemned the actions of his assistant.

Guwakis was hired as a dentist assistant three weeks ago. After being charged with theft, she was fired.
