Antivirus educational program: which masks are best suited for certain situations
We all know to wear a mask when going outside the house. The question is which mask to choose, writes New York Post.
Long gone are the first months of the coronavirus pandemic, when there was a worldwide shortage of masks. Now that there are so many personal protective equipment available, from simple medical masks to the popular N95, it can be difficult to know what to wear.
“Some situations may present a higher risk of contracting COVID-19 than others, so the level of protection needed may vary,” the CDC says on its website.
In certain cases - for example, if social distancing is not possible - more reliable protection, such as an N95, is needed. And for outdoor activities, such as a walk in the park, you may only need a cloth or blue medical mask.
Here is a list of masks and how to use them.
1) KN95 mask: for travel, hospital, public work
This mask is ideal for traveling on airplanes, trains and cars with non-family members. Each mask comes individually wrapped, perfect for putting a few extra items in your carry-on bag and keeping them close at hand in the car. They come with standard ear hooks or an adjustable head strap.
2) KN95 children's mask: for little passengers
Children's size KN95 is great for the same garments as the adult version, but offers better protection as it fits better than an adult mask. Children's masks can be in fun colors. They are usually individually packaged and convenient to have on hand when sending your child on a school bus or flying with an adult on a plane.
3) Surgical mask N95: for visiting loved ones in the hospital
Another widely discussed mask is the N95, a great option for other high-risk situations, such as visiting grandma in a nursing home or working with the public.
“The N95 respirator is a respiratory protective device designed to fit very tightly to the face and to be very effective at filtering airborne particles. Please note that the edges of the respirator are designed to form a seal around the nose and mouth, the FDA website explains. “N95 surgical respirators are commonly used in healthcare settings and are a subset of N95 filtering facepiece respirators (FFRs), often referred to as N95s.”

4) 3M mask: for construction work, debris and dust
The 3M mask appeared long before the pandemic and is great for non-virus-related things like home renovations, woodworking, and other dusty jobs.
This 3M mask is actually an N95 respirator mask, so you can also feel comfortable wearing it in the hospital, doctor's office or on public transport as they have excellent sealing, keep particles out of your nose and mouth and keep you from spreading them. among the others.
5) Surgical three-layer mask: for everyday use
The following two masks are some of the most common and are designed for everyday use, whether outdoors or at the grocery store. This mask not only protects against coronavirus, but also against 18 different influenza viruses, including types of influenza A and B, avian and swine flu, as well as measles, SARS, MERS and other airborne pathogens.
CDC recommends checking labels to make sure masks are made from multi-layer nonwoven fabric.
6) Three-layer mask: for less risk activities
The most common masks used outdoors are blue three-ply masks—and for good reason, as the CDC recommends them for the general public, either for lower-risk activities or under a cloth mask for higher-risk situations.
“Use cloth or medical procedure masks that have a nose wire (a metal strip along the top of the mask) to prevent air leakage at the top of the mask,” the CDC advises. - Nose wires can also help prevent glasses from fogging up. To ensure the mask fits well, be sure to bend the wire over your nose to fit your face.”

7) Children's three-layer mask: for school, playground and outside
Keeping your child safe is your top priority, so getting them a mask that fits their face is the first step.
The three-layer version has been designed to match the proportions of the child's face. They are typically individually packaged, allowing masks to be stowed in a backpack and lunch bag so they can be changed throughout the day.
8) NIOSH N95 mask: for healthcare workers and medical institutions
Since there are many masks for the general public, this one should be kept for healthcare professionals and healthcare providers.
The CDC does not recommend the use of N95 respirators to protect against COVID-19 outside healthcare facilities. They should be reserved for medical personnel and other workers who must wear them to protect against other hazards.
