American Delta will not resume direct flights from Moscow to major US cities in the upcoming summer season, said "Kommersant " in the press service of the carrier.

Delta sharply reduced flight schedules to Moscow at the end of 2015, against the backdrop of a sharp decline in passenger traffic from Russia abroad, but resumed flights during the high summer season.

In "Aeroflot" reported that in the 2017, transportation between Russia and the United States increased by 4%, and the airline by the summer will increase capacity in the US destinations. From the beginning of the summer season (end of March) a third daily flight to New York will be added (in 2017, it was opened from 1 June), the frequency of flights to Miami will increase to four per week (in 2017, three). A daily flight to Los Angeles will be operated on Boeing 777 (last year before 15 May flew Airbus 330). Aeroflot has no plans to open new flight points.

According to the border service of Russia, in 2017, the Russians made 127,6 thousand trips for tourism in the US - by 16,3% more than a year earlier. But the dynamics slowed down: in the first quarter the flow of tourists grew by 30,3%, in the fourth quarter it decreased by 0,8%. About the limitations of the United States on the issuance of tourist visas became known in the middle of the third quarter.

But a representative of the Russian Union of Travel Industry Irina Tyurina indicates that these difficulties could not have a significant impact on the number of tourists. “For several years, the United States in most cases issued Russians three-year visas, that is, restrictions affected only tourists who planned to receive a new visa in the second half of the year,” she argues.

According to Irina Tyurina, cancellation of flights Delta may cause a rise in the cost of Aeroflot tickets - the only carrier that retains direct flights from Russia to the USA. But the Russian carrier assured that “the airline’s offer is enough to satisfy the existing demand for transportation, therefore, care Delta will not affect Aeroflot tariffs.” In addition, according to him, up to half of the aviation market between Russia and the United States is accounted for by flights of European and Middle Eastern carriers through their hubs.
