The American ate 74 hot dog in 10 minutes and broke the world record
Joey "Jaws" Chestnut broke his own world record this Wednesday by eating an 74 hot dog in just 10 minutes and was awarded the 11 title of the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest.
The judges initially made a mistake and counted Joey "only" 64 hot dogs, but it was later revealed that an entire plate had not been counted. But regardless of this, Chestnut would have become a winner, albeit without a record. Last year he ate 72 hot dogs, thus increasing his own achievement by two more sausage rolls by 2018, he says USA Today.
ESPN journalist Darren Rovell tweeted the nutritional values of everything Chestnut ate: over 22 thousands of calories, 1332 grams of fat, 1850 grams of carbohydrates and 814 grams of proteins.
Chestnut beat out 20 competitors. Second place went to Carmen Cicotti - the result was 63 hot dogs eaten. Darron Breeden took third, managing to destroy 43 hot dogs. The winner received 10 thousand dollars, the second and third prize winners received 5 and 2,5 thousand, respectively. Miki Sudo won fifth place among women, eating 37 hot dogs and beating 19 other ladies, including last year's record holder Sonya Thomas.
Chestnut was a favorite on the stakes that Americans made at food contests this year. In total, as the bookmakers report, over one million US dollars were delivered to such contests.
