An American bought 20 lottery tickets and they all turned out to be winning

A man won the lottery 20 times by buying 20 identical tickets, reports Newsweek.

The Virginia man had a lucky October with twenty identical online lottery tickets that had the same winning number.

This case reflects the growing demand for online lotteries in today's increasingly virtual world.

According to the Virginia Lottery, William Newell usually buys Pick 4 tickets from a local store.
However, he recently changed his routine and decided to buy them online.

Adopting a seemingly unusual strategy, Newell bought twenty tickets for the same draw. He used the same four-digit combination for all of them: 5-4-1-1.

This combination of numbers turned out to be a winning one.

A week later, a resident of Alexandria, Virginia won $ 5000 for each of the identical tickets, resulting in a total prize of $ 100000.

Newell, who is retired, told lottery officials that he has no plans yet for how he will use his winnings. “This is definitely good!” he said.

Newell is just one of many who have made the switch to online lotteries.

The Virginia Lottery began offering virtual games just over a year ago, according to lottery officials.

In the sixteen months since its inception, online ticket winnings have generated over $ 1 billion in prizes, 213 individual players and 000 million wins.

However, that doesn't mean point-of-sale ticket sales have been canceled: about 30% of Virginia lottery ticket sales happen online, while 70% of transactions take place in brick-and-mortar stores.

“Virginians have become truly accustomed to the convenience of playing the lottery on their smartphone, tablet or computer,” said Kevin Hall, executive director of the Virginia Lottery, in a statement last week. “The Lottery is constantly looking for innovative and convenient ways to meet customer expectations while also providing our players with multiple opportunities to win.”

“Online lotteries continue to help support our mission of generating revenue for K-12 education throughout the Commonwealth,” he added.

During September alone, Virginia residents wagered a whopping $ 293 on both online and personal purchases, lottery officials said November 851.

Newell's prize is just one of several incredible lottery wins that have made headlines in recent months.
