7 of states where the number of illegal workers is growing
With the election of Donald Trump, the debate about illegal immigration has become more controversial. Although immigration is largely beneficial, there are many problems that simply have not been resolved. People are afraid of losing their jobs, the increased likelihood of terrorist attacks and the spending of American taxes on immigrant benefits.
In fact, very few Americans (if any) lose their jobs because of illegal immigrants. It's much more likely that large companies will exploit legal loopholes to attract cheaper labor—something that is widely known or ignored by many Americans. Illegal immigration has also changed significantly over the past eight years. Research Center Pew recently published a report detailing the decline and increase in the number of people without documents, and as this chart shows, the overall growth has stalled and changed.
“From 2009 to 2014, when the number of unauthorized immigrant workers was stable, eight US states—Alabama, California, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Nevada, South Carolina and Rhode Island—saw a decline in the number of unauthorized immigrant workers,” it says. in the report.
In contrast, 7 states have increased the number of undocumented populations.
- Washington
Central and Eastern Washington is focused on agriculture. This means that immigrant workers, both documented and undocumented, have many opportunities to find work. Especially in the central corridor of Washington, where the production of apples, cherries and hops are economically-strategic products.
2. Utah
Utah is another state with developed agriculture and a growing economy. He is also very conservative, so the topic of immigration is perceived here more acutely than, say, the liberal state of Washington. The numbers say the opposite. The number of employees without documents is growing here.
3. Minnesota
Like Utah, Minnesota seems like a strange choice for illegal workers. It does not border with the Pacific or the Atlantic Ocean and is not adjacent to Mexico. However, they are united by agriculture, a growing number of inhabitants and the economy.
4. Louisiana
In the South, there is a significant increase in the number of illegal immigrants. Louisiana attracts illegal immigrants to itself at the expense of industries such as agriculture, construction and hotel business.
5. Virginia
Legal and illegal immigration to Virginia has been on the rise for several years. In response, lawmakers are considering different bills to combat immigration. Despite this, the share of undocumented immigrants is growing.
6. Pennsylvania
Just north of Virginia, Pennsylvania is another state with a growing immigrant population. Another state with many rural, agricultural areas, Pennsylvania is an attractive place for new immigrants to find jobs.
7. New Jersey
New Jersey is a small state where the likelihood of finding work in both the city and suburbs increases.
