33 firing in two days: Chicago survived another bloody weekend

Dozens of people were injured, and two were killed in Chicago (Illinois) in 33 firearm incidents last weekend.

According to police, from Saturday morning, August 10, until Monday morning, August 12, at least 40 people were injured as a result of firing, writes Fox News.

On Saturday around 3: 15 in the morning, a group of men on the sidewalk in Humboldt Park was hit by gunfire. 19-year-old guy was wounded in the armpit and taken to a local hospital, where he was declared dead.

About 15 hours later, another shooting occurred in Humboldt Park, an 47-year-old man was in his car when an “unknown criminal” approached the victim and fired. The man received two bullets and was taken to hospital in critical condition. Soon, doctors ascertained his death.

In none of these cases have the police yet been able to detain the perpetrators.

In addition, as a result of the shooting on the West Side of Chicago, six people were injured on Sunday morning, one of them is in critical condition.

According to police, five women and one man stood in a crowd gathered on a street in the Garfield Park area when someone in a light sedan opened fire on people.

An 25-year-old man was taken to a local hospital in critical condition with a gunshot wound to his back. Three women were hospitalized in stable condition. No arrests were made in this case; an investigation is underway.

Later on Sunday, another shooting from a passing car was reported.

An 8-year-old girl was in Humboldt Park in a barbecue area near 15: 55, when an unknown man in a blue Dodge Charger passing by opened fire, injuring his child in the leg.

The witness said that the girl was playing next to her mother when unidentified people opened fire on her.

“They came through the block three times, but the first time we thought it was okay because we knew them. Then they drove up to us a second and third time, laughing at us, and then I heard six to 10 shots,” she said.

The witness added that the police missed the shooters when they left.

According to police, the girl is in "good condition." So far, no one has been detained in connection with this shooting.

Over the weekend in Chicago, criminals are often activated, resulting in gunfire, dozens of wounded and hundreds of dead. In 2019, the first weekend of June became the bloodiest 10 people were killed and 42 injured.
