Zoo in Egypt accused of faking a zebra
The zoo in Egypt was forbidden to draw black stripes on a donkey so that it looked like a zebra after a picture of the animal appeared on the Internet.
Student Mahmoud Sarkhan posted images on Facebook after visiting the Municipal Park “International Garden of Cairo”.
In addition to small sizes and pointed ears, on the face of an ass, black paint began to be smeared with black spots.
Photos quickly became viral, and experts rushed to compare the look of the animal.
The veterinarian, contacted by the local newsgroup Extranews.tv, said that the zebra face is black and its bands are more consistent and parallel.
Sarkhan told Extranews that there were two animals in the pen, and both were painted.
When the local radio station Nogoum FM contacted the director of the zoo Mohamed Sultan, he insisted that they were zebras.
This is not the first time that the zoo is accused of trying to deceive the audience. So, in 2009, the zoo in Gaza painted two donkeys, posing as zebras. And in 2012, the same zoo put stuffed animals.
In 2013, the Chinese zoo in Henan Province attempted to give the Tibetan dog a mastiff for the African lion, and in 2017, the zoo in Guangxi province disappointed visitors by putting plastic penguins.
A few weeks later, another Guangxi zoo attracted attention after showing plastic butterflies.
