University of Michigan will pay victims of harassment doctor 500 million dollars

University of Michigan will pay 332 to women accusing sports doctor Larry Nassar of sexual assault, 500 million dollars, writes Chicago Tribune.

425 million dollars will be paid in the near future to the victims, another 75 million is reserved for the case of new claims. Also compensation will be paid to lawyers.

It is not yet known how much money each of the victims will receive; the amounts will not be divided equally. Also, it is not reported where the funds will be allocated.

54-year-old Nassar pleaded guilty to molesting women and girls under the guise of treatment and possession of child pornography. He is serving three prison sentences, which are likely to turn into a life sentence for him.

In February, more than 250 women spoke at the trial. accused Nassar of harassment. Most of the crimes he committed in Michigan, in his home, university clinic and sports halls. But prosecutors also said he molested them at a training ranch in Texas and at national and international competitions.

Nassar worked with the U.S. Olympic gymnastics team for nearly 30 years. The victims were famous athletes - Aly Raisman, Jordan Wieber, Jamie Dantzscher, McKayla Maroney and Gabby Douglas. They claim they were abused by Nassar for years. The investigations led to the resignation of top sports officials.
