Haley harshly criticized the UN for a "hopeless bias towards Israel"

The outgoing United States Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN), Nikki Haley, accused the UN of being "hopelessly biased" against Israel.

She made such a statement on December 18 during the Security Council meeting, which is likely to be the last for her in this position, writes Fox News.

Haley spoke at a meeting of the Security Council on the Middle East, where the issue of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict was often raised, and during the discussion, many criticized Israel’s actions.

Hayley during such meetings, which are held monthly, mainly tried to draw attention to other issues in the region, in particular, to the Iranian aggression. But in her last address, she decided to emphasize the United Nations bias against Israel, mentioning, in particular, the General Assembly’s vote this month, when the body failed to adopt a resolution condemning the actions of the radical group Hamas.

“The UN has shown itself to be hopelessly biased, as we witnessed again just two weeks ago when the General Assembly failed to even condemn Hamas terrorism against Israel,” she said.

Haley has made combating anti-Israel bias at the UN one of her priorities as the US representative to the organization. The US withdrew from the UN Human Rights Council, which Haley called a "political cesspool", and cut funding to the UN Relief Agency for Palestine Refugees. Last month, the United States voted against the annual resolution condemning Israel's "occupation" of the Golan Heights, a decisive step from the US decision to abstain from voting on the resolution in 2017. Last month, Haley stressed that the UN, which is unable to condemn Hamas's actions, has adopted more than 700 resolutions critical of Israel.

On Tuesday, she accused the UN of "obsession with Israel."

“This obsession with the UN has been completely unproductive. Moreover, the UN's obsession with this issue has been counterproductive. This obsession has given the Palestinians a loud and false message that they can achieve their goals by relying on the UN rather than direct negotiations. And she sent a loud and clear message to the Israelis that they will never be able to trust the UN,” Haley said.

Haley also announced the Donald Trump administration’s Middle East Peace Plan, which is expected to be announced at the beginning of 2019. She said that she read it, and that it is very detailed and thought out.

“He brings new elements to the discussion, taking advantage of the new world of technology in which we now live. He acknowledges that realities in the Middle East have changed in important ways. This plan will be different from all previous ones - the critical question is whether the response to it will be different from all previous ones,” she said.

However, some EU countries have already noted their disagreement with the plan, which has not even been made public. They believe that the plan cannot be supported because it does not comply with the current "internationally agreed agreements based on international law, relevant UN resolutions and previous agreements".

“Any peace plan that does not take into account these internationally agreed parameters is doomed to fail,” the European countries said in a statement.

In her speech, Hayley clarified the position of the United States and said that other countries would have to decide whether to focus on parts of the plan that they didn’t like or go to negotiations.

She noted that the United States will continue to extend a hand of friendship to the Palestinians, whom she said the United States has provided "far more financial support than any other country," but Haley emphasized America's "steadfast friendship" with Israel.

“...No matter what others decide, the world must know that America will remain steadfast in our support for Israel, its people and its security. This is the unshakable bond between our peoples,” she said.

Recall, Trump intends to appoint the current State Department spokesman and former Fox News presenter Heather Nauert to be the US Permanent Representative to the UN in 2019 year.
