During an exercise, FBI agents broke into the wrong hotel room and detained a shocked guest

The FBI said its Boston unit assisted the military with an exercise around 22 p.m. on April 00 "to simulate the situation their personnel might face."
“Based on false information, they were mistakenly sent to the wrong room, and they detained an ordinary person, and not the alleged role player,” the FBI said.

“First of all, we would like to offer our deepest apologies to the person affected by the exercise,” said USASOC Lt. Col. Mike Burns.
The exercise was meant to "improve the soldiers' skills to operate in realistic and unfamiliar environments," Burns explained, adding that the incident is under review. According to the FBI, no one was hurt.
According to the Boston Police Department, the incident occurred at the Revere Hotel Boston Common.
A Boston police report states that the officers were called to a hotel around 00:20 on April 5, where they were met by law enforcement officials conducting an exercise.

Local news reports say the man who was in the hotel room and was detained by federal law enforcement is a Delta Air Lines employee.
The Atlanta-based airline said it was investigating "a suspected incident in Boston that may have involved Delta employees."
