In Houston, migrants were given 24 hours to leave the US, and then changed their minds

A couple of well-known Indian-American physicians living and working legally in Houston, suddenly received a message from the immigration service to leave the United States within 24 hours. At the last minute, they received permission from the US administration to extend their stay in the US for 90 days for humanitarian reasons.
Neuroscientists Pankaj Satija and his wife Dr. Monica Ammat work legally in the US for 15 years. They have a 7 year old son and a 4 year old daughter.
The problems started after they visited India to see the sick father of Pankai last October. Upon their return, they were stopped at Bush International Airport by customs and border guard officers, who said that their travel documents had expired.
Customs and Border Guard officials studied the travel document, stating that it expires in June of this year, when in fact the US Citizenship and Immigration Service noted that their document had actually expired in June of 2016. The airport noted this discrepancy and allowed to enter the United States and correct the error.
On Wednesday, March 29, Pankay and his wife suddenly received a message from the immigration authorities that they leave the United States within 24 hours. They were told that under the new policy, they would no longer be able to extend their temporary residence permit, while they were waiting for permanent permission, local media reported.
However, when they were going to board a plane flying to India, on Thursday, March 30, they were given an 90-day delay for humanitarian reasons.
The agency offered the couple 3 a month of humanitarian parole, a rare measure for immigrants due to an “emergency” to sort out their documents.
Recall that the migration officers арестовали 84 man for 3 day raids in the northwest United States. The operation was aimed at identifying undocumented foreigners with a criminal record, illegal applicants and migrant fugitives.
