Boris Nemtsov Square Appears in Washington

On the third anniversary of the murder of Russian opposition politician Boris Nemtsov, a square named after him officially appeared in front of the Russian Embassy in Washington.

Russian officials perceived the new address of their embassy in the US capital with irritation. In particular, Leonid Slutsky, chairman of the State Duma’s international affairs committee, in January of this year, said that this decision was “rude, tough, made in the peak of Russia.”

On the third anniversary of the murder of Boris Nemtsov US called Russian authorities to do everything to ensure that those involved in his murder, including the organizers and customers of the crime, were brought to justice.

“Three years ago, opposition leader Boris Nemtsov was killed near the Kremlin. As one of the leaders of the Russian democratic movement, the former governor of the Russian region, energy minister and deputy prime minister, Boris Nemtsov devoted his life to serving the community, ”said State Department spokesman Heather Neuert in a statement.

A similar presentation was made by the European Union Ambassador to the Russian Federation Markus Ederer. According to him, the murder of Nemtsov "should be fully and transparently investigated so that all the perpetrators, organizers and accomplices of this crime are brought to justice."

Recall that Boris Nemtsov was killed at night on February 27 2015 near the Kremlin. After dinner at a restaurant with a friend, the oppositionist decided to walk home. Killers caught up with him in a car and shot him in the back and head.

Performers found pretty quickly: no more than a week. These are five Chechens. Last summer, the killer - Zaur Dadaev was given 20 years prisons. According to investigators, they killed Nemtsov for saying a politician about Muslims. But relatives, the public and supporters of the opposition do not believe in this version and demand to punish customers.
