In the United States will begin to put special marks in the passports of pedophiles

The US State Department began withdrawing passports from Americans who were convicted at various times for crimes against the sexual integrity of children and adolescents. Soon, such citizens will receive their documents again, but they will already have a special stamp that will inform law enforcement agencies about their crimes in the event of traveling abroad. The inscription on the back end of the passport will be placed: “The bearer was found guilty of having committed a sexual offense against a minor in accordance with US law.”
The State Department explained that they would start sending out announcements about the replacement of passports to these citizens after they had access to the database of the Department of Homeland Security. The State Department does not yet plan to put marks on the passports of those who were tried for the other offenses. It is not clear when the State Department will receive this data.
The Foreign Ministry clarified that the presence of a special mark does not affect the ability of an American to travel outside the United States. However, entry to some countries may be closed for them. The officials also explained that by their decision they expect to contribute to the fight against sex tourism.
The changes were introduced due to the adoption of “International Law Megan”, which introduces an indispensable warning to law enforcement agencies of other states that a convict for sexual offense against a child is about to enter the country.
The law is named after Megan Kanka, who at 1994, when she was 7 years old, was killed in New Jersey by a man convicted of offenses against children.
