In the US, two Russians received a term for cybercrime

The District Court of Camden, New Jersey, sentenced Russian citizens Vladimir Drinkman and Dmitry Smilyants, who were accused of committing the largest hacker attack in US history.

As the TASS, 37-year-old Drinkman was sentenced to 12 years in prison. After that, he will be under the supervision of the American authorities for three years if he remains in the country.

Drinkman caused US damage in the amount of $ 312 million. 13 in April the court intends to consider the question of compensation that the Russian will have to pay the US.

34-year-old Smilyants was sentenced to four years and three months in prison. But the man was released in the courtroom, as he had already served this term while in custody in the United States while the case was being considered. Smilianets will be under the supervision of the American authorities 5 for years if it remains in the United States.

Recall that Drinkman and Smilyantsa were accused of having three Russian citizens and one Ukrainian citizen, from 2005 to 2012, hacked computer networks of more than 16 companies and stole numbers around 160 million credit cards. Among the victims of the attack were the NASDAQ e-exchange, trading networks 7-Eleven and JC PenneyFrench company Carrefour SA, airline JetBlue and others.

Drinkman and Smilianets were arrested in the Netherlands in 2012, and extradited in the USA. In September 2015, Drinkman pleaded guilty to conspiring to gain unauthorized access to computer systems, as well as fraud using electronic communications. Soon Smilianets also admitted his guilt.
