U.S. House of Representatives holds first Trump impeachment vote

The House of Representatives of the US Congress, controlled by the Democrats, on Friday rejected a resolution introduced by the Republicans against the beginning of the impeachment process to US President Donald Trump, writes TASS.

When voting, congressmen were divided strictly by party affiliation: 184 Republicans spoke in favor and 222 Democrats opposed.

The impeachment procedure was launched on the basis of allegations that Trump put pressure on his Ukrainian counterpart Vladimir Zelensky in a July telephone call to indirectly help Kiev indirectly help the head of the Washington administration reelect for a second term in 2020. The American leader allegedly sought an investigation into the actions of the son of former US Vice President Joseph Biden in Ukraine in exchange for providing financial and military assistance to Washington Kiev.
