In New York, confirmed the case of measles and warn of danger
Health officials in New York confirmed the case of measles. Now they are warning people who may have caught the virus in several places in the Buffalo area over the past week, about possible symptoms.
The Erie County Health Department said that an immigrant had recently been diagnosed with a very contagious virus at the Millard Fillmore suburban hospital. The patient visited several places from 4 to 11 in December, including Catholic charities and a district medical clinic in Buffalo, Sweet Home High School in Amherst, and several shops in Buffalo and its surroundings.
Authorities say the virus remains active in the air and on the surface for up to two hours.
People who have not been vaccinated against measles should see a doctor if they have a fever, eyes get twitchy and a rash appears.
In connection with the measles outbreak in the Orthodox Jewish communities of Williamsburg and Borough Park in Brooklyn, the city health department asked unvaccinated students not to go to school.
Measles, which can lead to severe illness and death, is highly contagious and spreads through the air: when an infected person sneezes or coughs.
