Monument to Stalin installed in the center of Moscow

Busts of Soviet leaders, including Joseph Stalin, appeared in the center of Moscow in Petroverigsky Lane on the so-called “Alley of Rulers”, organized by the Russian Military Historical Society.
Earlier in May, busts of Russian kings were installed here. The exposition was completed by the Provisional Government headed by Alexander Kerensky in 1917. Now Vladimir Lenin, Joseph Stalin, Nikita Khrushchev, Leonid Brezhnev, Yuri Andropov, Konstantin Chernenko and Mikhail Gorbachev were added to the kings. A total of 40 busts are installed in the alley.
The sculptor Zurab Tsereteli, the head of the State Duma Committee on Culture and director Stanislav Govorukhin, and the Deputy Minister of Culture Alexander Zhuravsky took part in the opening ceremony of the new busts. Zhuravsky called the "Alley of rulers" "a symbol of continuity without crossed out names", stressing that Lenin and Stalin are an integral part of history.

Immediately after the opening ceremony was completed, a spontaneous action by opponents of the installation of monuments to Stalin and other Soviet leaders was held near the busts on the “Alley of Rulers”. However, the protesters soon dispersed, only a few journalists remained.
