In California, an arsonist who started a forest fire was detained
25 law enforcement officers in July detained 32-year-old Brandon N. McGlover from Temecula (California), accusing him of starting a fire in the San Bernardino National Forest that led to the destruction of several houses and the evacuation of thousands of people.
Five arson charges were filed against him, writes CNN.
The authorities believe that McGlover launched several fires in Riverside County, including Cranston, about 15 miles (24 km) southwest of Palm Springs, which spread to 1900 ha (4700 acres).
Currently, more than 700 firefighters are fighting him.
Aerial video shows the fire destroying several houses. The storm threatens the cities of Idyllywild, Mountain Center, Apple Canyon, Harkey Creek and Lake Hemet - a total of about 16 people were evacuated.

In addition to fire, residents near the surrounding areas are threatened by thick smoke.
The area around Idyllivild was hit by a large-scale forest fire in July 2013, which resulted in the burning of about 11 000 ha.
