In California, a scammer tricked immigrants into more than $ 100 000

Federal prosecutors accuse a California woman of fraud. She allegedly helped immigrants with all the documents - she took money from them, but did not fill out any documents. Writes about this KTLA.

In September 2019, Helen Kennedy, also known as Helen Abdi, was accused of fraudulent schemes, the sum amounted to more than $ 100 000. Immigrants throughout the country were victims of fraud, although it was mainly a woman who attracted Iranian immigrants to collaborate.

In one advertising video posted on YouTube, a commentator said Abdie helped with immigration documents for the whole family.

“After receiving the money, she didn’t even answer the phone,” one commenter wrote.

According to documents filed with the US District Court in Norfolk, Virginia, Kennedy promised clients political asylum, visas, green cards, and even citizenship if they paid a commission. The indictment states that Kennedy appropriated the money and never filed immigration documents on behalf of her clients.

Kennedy is accused of fraud on five counts.

Assistant Attorney Joseph Koskey and Kennedy Attorney Andrew Grindrod declined to comment on the indictment.
