The US Army took the 100 speakers of the Ukrainian language

Since October 1, 2014, 100 recruits who speak Ukrainian have been admitted to the US Army under contract. This information was confirmed by TASS at the Pentagon.

The recruitment letter was sent by one of the army recruitment centers in Texas to the local association of Americans of Ukrainian origin. At the same time, as noted in the press service, vacancies for speakers of the Ukrainian language were “almost immediately filled”.

The recruitment was carried out within the framework of the program “Admission to military service, vital for national interests (MAVNI). Its purpose is to fill army vacancies in various highly specialized areas.

As the agency notes, the recruitment is carried out on conditions exceptional for the USA - applicants are not required not only American citizenship, but even a permanent residence permit.

To participate in the program, it is enough to be fit for service for health reasons, not have serious problems with the law, speak fluent English, and go through a standard army proficiency test. Gender does not matter, age - from 17 to 34 years.

Meanwhile, The Washington Times writes that the Pentagon is preparing to send military personnel to Ukraine to train the “nascent national guard.” They are due to begin training about 600 Ukrainian security forces next month, writes Lenta.ru.
