Hurricane Florence weakened, but will intensify to the 3 category before going to land
Hurricane Florence weakened to a tropical storm, but continues to move to the United States. Where and when he can strike a land remains a mystery.
According to the latest forecast of the National Hurricane Center, a tropical storm is approaching the shores of the United States. Landfall is predicted in about a week.
After a brief weakening, Florence will pick up the strength of the powerful 3 hurricane category, where wind power reaches 125 miles / hour (201 km / hour) when it approaches the United States.
“It is too early to say whether Florence will make landfall on the US East Coast next week,” the Hurricane Center said Thursday.
But at the same time, a distant storm will soon begin to remind of itself in high waves.
"Regardless of Florence's direction, large waves from the storm will reach Bermuda starting Friday and parts of the U.S. East Coast this weekend, resulting in life-threatening surf and undercurrents," the center said.
On Friday morning, the wind speed of the storm reached 60 miles / hour (96,5 km / hour). He moved at a speed of 7 miles / hour.
Most storms in this region tend to change their trajectory and not reach the United States. But an unusually strong high pressure could block the deviation, said meteorologist Ryan Mau.
"If you live anywhere from coastal Georgia to Massachusetts, you better start planning your next steps now," said meteorologist Mike Bettes.
On Wednesday, the wind power of Florence reached a peak - 130 miles / hour (209 km / hour), but on Friday it weakened to 60 miles / hour (96,5 km / hour).
After Florence, the activity of two more cyclones is expected, which will intensify before the storm. They have already given the name Helen and Isaac. They may threaten the shores of the United States in the middle of this month.
Helen may enter the Caribbean as a hurricane next week, Mau said.
