Ukrainian army impressed with the military from the US

The movement and tactical communications of Ukrainian soldiers exceed the average of most US troops, said former US military Adrian Bonenberger, who served in Afghanistan.

“I was an army officer for almost seven years and spent more than two years in Afghanistan. I trained Afghan soldiers and police, and none of their units were as professional as the Ukrainian ones,” the former military man claims in his column for Forbes.com.

He expressed confidence that the Ukrainians can break not only the militants, but also the Russian army.

“Ukraine is much stronger than many people think. Until this point, the Ukrainians fought with one hand, as most of their military strength was deliberately kept in reserve so as not to provoke Russia into transferring even more soldiers and equipment,” Bonenberger emphasized.

He recalled that when the Ukrainian troops launched a large-scale offensive in August 2014, they quickly achieved success.

“Russia had to send thousands of soldiers across the border to reinforce the separatists, supplying them with artillery, tanks and anti-aircraft weapons, including the Buk complex that was used to shoot down the Malaysian Boeing. Since then, a certain status quo has been established - not to be confused with a ceasefire, since dozens of skirmishes occur daily,” Bonenberger wrote.
