Ukrainka became the best general manager of hotels in Chicago

The Illinois Hotel Sales and Marketing Association recognized Rovno native Lyudmila Chervona as the best hotel manager. The association unites more than seven thousand members, these are hotels, restaurants, tour operators and other businesses that provide services in the hotel industry, writes “Voice of America".

Lyudmila Chervona moved to the US in 1999, winning the green card. Before that she graduated from the magistracy and studied in graduate school of the Kiev University of Trade and Economics.

She immediately settled in the suburbs of Chicago. She says that she didn’t know English well then—she studied French and German at university and just started learning English with a tutor. It was difficult at first. My first job was putting groceries in plastic bags in a store.

But a year later she already started working in the hotel business. First - at the hotel "Hilton"in the sales department. The last four years - in Chicago Essex Inn as general manager.

This is a medium-sized hotel, on 254 rooms, where 60 employees work under the guidance of Lyudmila Chervona. She also teaches income management at the local college from time to time.

She recently received a promotion - she moved to the position of “general regional manager” and under her leadership there will be another hotel chain.

“We are very proud that Ms. Chevrona won the General Manager of the Year award,” the network’s senior vice president told VOA Oxford Hotels and Resorts George Jordan. “Not only is she the best general manager in one of America's largest markets, but she is also recognized as one of the top revenue management experts in her industry.”
