Tom Cruise Surprise Screenings of 'Mission: Impossible' in Various US Cinemas

Hollywood actor Tom Cruise surprised fans by showing up for several screenings of his new movie from the Mission: Impossible franchise. Writes about it The Washington Post.

Ravi Khanna and his wife have not been in films together for many years.

They took a weekday off to make it in time for a 14:30 pm screening of the recently released Mission: Impossible: Deadly Reckoning. Part 1". Khanna is a longtime fan of the 27 year old franchise and was thrilled to spend the day with his wife watching the seventh installment.

But someone ruined their date, and it was Tom Cruise himself.

“My wife’s jaw dropped. I was delighted,” said Khanna, 47. “I remember squinting to make sure it was really him.” I will remember this for the rest of my life. I felt like a kid the rest of the day.”

Cruise and the film's director Christopher McQuarrie surprised fans like Khanna by suddenly taking the stage right before the movie began at AMC Georgetown 14 in Washington, DC. Later that day, Cruz and McQuarrie surprised fans in Atlanta, Georgia.

Khanna shared footage of the appearance, but the theater staff declined to confirm if the visit took place.

“I haven’t heard anything about it,” said the manager.

For Khanna, it was the moment of a lifetime. And possibly the best date he's ever gone on.

Khanna and his wife bought tickets for the screening about a month in advance, a testament to Khanna's enduring love for the franchise.

“I always gathered my friends to go see movies on opening nights,” he explained.

When the couple arrived at the cinema around 14:00 pm, there was more activity than they expected: free popcorn, drinks, t-shirts and caps.

“My wife said, ‘I haven’t been to a movie in a long time, are these screenings now?’” Khanna laughed. They were confused, and Khanna thought that the rest of the audience should be as excited about the new film as he was.

As they entered the hall, a theater employee suspiciously told the couple that they were in for a "real treat".

The couple noticed that there were several men in formal suits in the room. “It seemed too formal,” Khanna said. However, he didn't ask anything.

The lights went out and the Oppenheimer and Barbie trailers started, they took over the screens. Everything seemed to go on as usual and the film was about to begin.

The light turned on again. Cruz and McQuarrie exited the screen door and stood on the edge of the stage with the microphone.

“Everyone was just in shock! There was silence for a minute, Khanna conveyed the atmosphere. “And then the hall burst into cheers and applause.”

Cruz and McQuarrie thanked those in attendance for coming. According to them, it's great to see the audience again in cinemas, whose business has been hit hard by the pandemic due to COVID-19.

“Nice to see you all. How are you? - asked Cruz. — Enjoy the film. Have a nice summer".

The actor and director lingered for a few minutes, and then the lights went out again and the movie began.

“There was definitely an element of shock,” Khanna said. “I didn’t know how I was going to sleep that night.”

And, according to him, the film was fantastic: "This is exactly how a summer blockbuster should be."

Unexpected appearance in Florida

Tom Cruise's surprise appearance at a movie theater in Florida left some moviegoers feeling like they were in a mega-3D version of the new Mission: Impossible movie. Fox35Orlando.

The 61-year-old actor appeared at a cinema in South Miami. McQuarrie also joined him. They shook hands and took selfies with fans at AMC Sunset Place 24.

“You definitely dream about moments like this,” Cruz told the crowd. - It's amazing! This cinema is here, this big screen. I just want to say hello to you all and hope you enjoy the film. We made it for you."

"Mission Impossible: Deadly Reckoning. Part 1, starring Hayley Atwell and Rebecca Ferguson, tells the story of Ethan Hunt as he hunts down a new weapon that threatens humanity.

It is the seventh film in the Mission: Impossible franchise. The release of the second part is scheduled for 2024.
