Strange creatures crawl around houses in Florida at night: one of them got on camera

Something pink and fleshy has been seen rubbing against the doorbell camera of a Florida home. This has led to speculation on social media that the invasive species is crawling up the walls of the home after dark. Writes about it Yahoo!.

Dean Gordon shared a video of the March 12 incident on the Lehigh Acres FL Facebook page, a public group with 30 followers.

The footage shows how the mysterious creature seemed to change shape as it lay on the lens, and was close enough to block any view of the courtyard.

“Does anyone know what it could be? Gordon asked. “Scared the hell out of me last night.”

It happened at 01:40, he noticed, and he was awakened by a knock on the door.

“My first thought was a human hand, and then an octopus,” he wrote.

At some point, his fingers are really visible, but then the creature becomes almost shapeless.

Commentators have written countless variations from spider to gecko. One even saw a crab in it.

“The frog is most likely Cuban,” wrote Kathleen Thayer.

“They hang out on my camera too,” wrote Penny Khan Losey.

“The same thing happened to me,” said Janey Miller.

One person informed Gordon that things could get worse.

"You think it's bad, but wait until he jumps on your neck as you walk past the camera," wrote JT Tompkins.

The Cuban tree frog is an invasive species that appeared in Florida in 1931 and has spread to 36 of the state's 67 counties, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. According to experts, they are venomous, nocturnal, and females grow up to 5 inches (12,7 cm) in length.

Frogs have skin secretions that can irritate the human mucosa.
