The United States urged the Ukrainian authorities to speed up the investigation of the events in Odessa
The United States expressed its condolences to the people of Ukraine in connection with the anniversary of the tragic events in Odessa, during which more than 40 people died, and called on the Ukrainian authorities to speed up the investigation.
This was stated on Thursday in Washington by a spokesman for the US State Department Marie Harf, reports its own correspondent Ukrinform.
“We continue to call on the Ukrainian authorities to conduct an investigation and clarify charges against those who were guilty of the events in Odessa and to do this as quickly as possible,” Harf emphasized.
At the same time, she noted that we need to take a deeper look at what is happening all over Ukraine. The representative of the State Department in connection with this focused attention that, in general, during the conflict that arose because of Russian aggression, more than 6 thousand people died and more than 1 million became internally displaced persons.
She stressed that this once again confirms the importance of the implementation of the Minsk agreements.
2 May 2014 in Odessa were massive clashes between pro-Ukrainian and pro-Russian activists. As a result of the conflict and the subsequent fire in the House of Trade Unions, 48 people died, more than 200 were injured.
