Composer Vladimir Shainsky died in California

Russian composer, People’s Artist of the RSFSR Vladimir Shainsky died at the age of 92 in the USA, reports Air force with reference to his relatives.

Shainsky became famous primarily for his children's songs for Soviet cartoons. The composer wrote melodies for such classic animated films as “The Adventures of Dunno”, “Merry Carousel”, “38 Parrots” and “Cheburashka and the Crocodile Gena”.

The Soviet funk "Chunga-changa" is also Shainsky.

And "If a friend went on a journey."

Vladimir Shainsky was born on December 12 of 1925 in Kiev. Until 2000, the composer lived and worked in Moscow, then he moved to Israel, and in 2004, he moved to the USA, where he received a residence permit.

In recent years, Shainsky lived in the city of San Diego in California. A few years ago he was diagnosed with stomach cancer.

“There was cancer. The operation was a long time ago. When they did it, the condition seemed to improve. But such things at this age do not pass without a trace,” the composer’s son Vyacheslav told Izvestia.

Shainsky also wrote music for songs based on poems by Soviet poets in Yiddish. In addition, he wrote an opera for children, Three Against Marabuca (1974), and several musicals, including The Eighth Wonder of the World and The Elevator.

The songs to the music of Shainsky at different times were performed by Maya Kristalinskaya, Lyudmila Zykina, Anna German, Iosif Kobzon, Alla Pugacheva and Lev Leschenko.
