Heavy snowfall and power outages: a powerful blizzard will cover the center of the USA

A powerful storm is expected to cover 12 in inches of snow (30 cm) from the north-center of the Rockies to the northern plains, according to the National Weather Service. Winter storm warnings are already common throughout the region, from Idaho to Minnesota.
The Grand Forks Weather Service (North Dakota) warns that if there is heavy snowfall, tree damage and power outages are possible. Residents of Denver and Minneapolis will see snow for the first time this season.
According to AccuWeather, the temperature will also drop by 60 degrees Fahrenheit (15 degrees Celsius) in 12-24 hours, as cold air will quickly replace previous warm weather conditions.

"Within 48 hours, Denver could go from 80 degrees Fahrenheit (26,6 Celsius) and warm sunshine to 20 degrees Fahrenheit (-6,6 Celsius) and snow," AccuWeather meteorologist Alex Sosnowski said.
The blizzard will consist of two parts: according to AccuWeather, after the first part of the storm covers the northern and central Rockies and the High Plains on Thursday, October 10, the second part of the storm will increase in the eastern parts of Dakota to western Minnesota at the end of the week.
“There is a potential for blizzard conditions in parts of this area as temperatures plummet, winds increase and rain shifts to heavy snowfall,” Sosnowski said.

The weather service warned that any travel could be extremely dangerous.
A number of record-breaking temperature lows can be broken in cities such as Denver (Colorado) Portland (Oregon) and Salt Lake City (Utah).
