Senator John McCain diagnosed aggressive brain tumor

A US brain tumor was found in US Senator John McCain. Representatives of a Republican veteran said that the 80-year-old senator is exploring treatment options.

Last week, John McCain underwent surgery on his left eye, during which he was removed a blood clot from the blood vessels of the eye. A tumor was found during surgery.

The treatment offered to the senator may include a combination of chemotherapy and radiation exposure.

Doctors analyzed the tumor tissue and determined that it was glioblastoma, a primary brain tumor. Glioblastoma is the most aggressive form of brain tumor. And it affects men more often than women.

Doctors who are observing McCain claim that after the operation the senator recovers well and his general condition is excellent.

John McCain is an Arizona Senator since 1987 of the year. In 2008, he was the Republican presidential candidate, with Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his partner. But McCain lost to Barack Obama.

The senator is a tough critic of the actions of Russia and Vladimir Putin personally. In addition, McCain always supported Ukraine, defended its interests and even came to Kiev during the Maidan.

Another interesting fact from his biography is that John McCain spent five years in Vietnamese captivity, where he was tortured. After the signing of the Paris Peace Accords in 1973, he was released.
