Destructive winds, hail and floods: New York threatens new storm

Torrential rains and flash floods threaten most of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

This is the fourth storm in a row in just a few days, and it can bring more moisture and cause more serious consequences than the previous ones, writes NBC New York.

The National Weather Service has warned of severe thunderstorms across much of New York State on the evening of June 20. Meanwhile, due to bad weather, flight delays have already begun: at the time of writing, they averaged about 4 hours in Newark, and about 2 hours at Kennedy Airport.

The expected weather conditions on Thursday evening can be very severe with potentially damaging winds, hail, local rainfall and severe thunderstorms.

Due to the fact that over the past few days, the soil and rivers in the region have been saturated with water due to frequent rains, the new weather can lead to sudden flooding and flooding of roads and underpasses.

Flash flood warnings are valid for Hunterdon County in New Jersey, as well as for Middlesex, Monmouth and Ocean counties. Concerning the last three districts, warnings were also issued about a serious thunderstorm on Thursday evening.

But there is good news. In the near future, the weather in the region will noticeably improve.

It is expected that Friday morning will still be wet with some rains, but by noon the weather conditions should gradually improve. In the evening, the clouds will give way to sunlight, and the air temperature will be set at 79 degrees Fahrenheit (26 Celsius). In addition, in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, great weather is expected at the weekend.
