Telephone conversation of Zelensky and Putin: what the presidents discussed

The presidents discussed the problem of resolving the situation in southeastern Ukraine. And during the discussion, the importance of strict observance of the ceasefire regime established since July 21, as well as the separation of forces and means from the demarcation line, was emphasized.

The head of the Kremlin said that in order to de-escalate the conflict, it is necessary to exclude further shelling, according to him, by the Ukrainian troops of the settlements of Donbass, leading to civilian casualties.

The exceptional importance of the consistent implementation of the Minsk agreements was also confirmed. Putin also insists on the legal aspects of granting the so-called DPR and LPR a special status. In this context, the need for a constructive dialogue between the parties, including within the framework of the Minsk contact group, was noted.

In addition, the presidents of both countries agreed to intensify work to return the detainees and discussed possible prospects for cooperation in the “Norman format”.
