In New Mexico in Albuquerque, policeman Jonathan McDonnell rushed to the challenge, exceeding speed up to 129 km per hour, and crashed into a car, resulting in the death of 6-year-old boy Joel Anthony Suina.
The police reported that around 18: 00 McDonnell received a message that a man with a machete threatened visitors at the grocery store Northeast heights. He turned on the siren, flashing beacons and sped up the movement, but his car collided with Antoinette Suina’s car as she turned left. The woman was taking her 6-year-old son and 9-year-old daughter to school.
McDonnell managed to slow down, but when hit, the car continued to move by inertia at a speed of 162 km per hour. The children were taken to the hospital. The boy died of his injuries, the girl recorded a fracture of the pelvis, head injuries, chest, liver and kidneys.
The policeman suffered serious injuries to his legs and chest. It is reported that in 9-year career, McDonnell received 6 disciplinary charges for traffic accidents and illegal harassment.
McDonnell's lawyer, John D'Amato, said his client refused to voluntarily admit his guilt. The case will be reviewed by the District Attorney of Bernalillo.
