A girl from Florida broke her spine trying to save a drowned child
A Florida resident broke her spine after jumping from a pier in hopes of saving a sinking boy and is now struggling to cover her hospital bills, which are rising due to lack of insurance.
19-year-old Hanna Piñato worked as a waitress at Joe's Crab Shack in Dayton Beach when she saw how an 8-year-old child was trying not to drown in the water.
Hannah is a great surfer and swimmer. She immediately rushed to help the child and his parents, who were desperate to find help.
“She was screaming,” Pignato said of the child’s mother. - I was scared. We were all scared."
Piñato ran down from the rooftop restaurant deck, gave her apron, phone and personal belongings to the customer and jumped off the pier into Main Street into the water.

“Unfortunately, she landed on a sand bar and as a result of the impact, she fractured her lower spine in three places, fractured her right heel and fractured her upper leg,” wrote Tayler Koop, organizer of a GoFundMe campaign created for Pignato.
Despite the pain, Hannah continued to swim to the boy, but returned to the shore when she saw that the man had swum to the child faster and he was already safe.
“She swam to the shore and felt like she couldn’t stand. She had to be pulled out of the water,” Koop writes.
The child was safely taken out of the water, and Pinato was taken to a local hospital where he was operated on.
“I know what it’s like to lose your family,” Pignato said, holding back tears as she spoke of the boy’s mother. “I didn't want her to go through this.” I'm just happy and grateful."

Coop wrote that Pinato is bedridden and will not be able to return to work for at least two months. Due to the fact that Hannah does not have insurance, her hospital bills continue to grow.
In her honor, the GoFundMe page was created, the main task of which is to cover medical expenses. At the time of this writing, $ 43 175 out of the declared $ 75 000 has been collected.
