The passenger confused the door in the plane and instead of the toilet opened an emergency exit
On board the airliner, which was preparing to fly from Manchester (UK) to Islamabad (Pakistan), one of the passengers urgently wanted to go to the toilet. It all ended with the flight had to be delayed for eight hours.
When the plane was ready to take off, the woman ignored the pilots' demands to stay in place and fasten their seat belts and headed for the restroom. Having confused the doors, she opened an emergency exit and thereby provoked the inflating of an emergency ladder, writes New York Post.
It is impossible to open these doors during a flight, but before takeoff all emergency exits are on “high alert” - meaning that in the event of an emergency they will be easy to open, and the emergency slides will inflate and deploy automatically. A passenger on Pakistan International Airlines Flight 702 did just that, thinking she would go to the bathroom.
“A passenger mistakenly opened the emergency door, which triggered the emergency stair deployment,” resulting in all passengers being removed from the plane, the airline said in a statement.
Where the crew members were and why no one stopped the woman is not specified.
When the ramp is deployed by mistake, the airline can continue the flight and replace the ramp at its home base - which is what PIA has done. But due to the fact that the possibilities for evacuation are reduced, fewer people are allowed to fly on board.

In that case, 38 passengers were rebooked for a later flight.
“All passengers were provided with dinner. The offloaded passengers have been provided with transportation and hotel accommodation and will be rebooked on the next available flight,” the airline said.
Some of the passengers complained that their luggage remained in Manchester.
“Pathetic service from PIA. “I am one of the 38 passengers who were voluntarily removed from flight PK702 so that it could fly to Islamabad, but on the condition that we all receive our luggage,” a passenger on the flight tweeted.
“At first you didn’t give us our luggage in Manchester. Then when we arrived we were told that half of our luggage was still at Manchester airport,” she wrote after arriving in Islamabad.
