Newborn girl left in the receiver for foundlings at the fire station
In Indiana, for the second time in five months, a newborn baby was left in the receiver for the foundlings at the fire station, writes Daily Mail.
According to Indiana law, parents are allowed to leave children up to 30-day old in any police department, fire station or hospital without prosecution.
The so-called “window of life” receivers installed at fire stations should make it easier for mothers to make such a difficult decision while maintaining anonymity. The first such box, with climate control, was established about two years ago.
The found girl, who was named Grace, looked healthy and was taken to hospital for further care. She will then be placed under the care of the Indiana Children's Department.
