Man finds deadly spider in a package of bananas from a supermarket
In England, a supermarket customer caught a poisonous Brazilian spider in a box of bananas, reports Focus.
A resident of England bought a bunch of bananas and was about to have breakfast, but noticed that something was stirring on the banana.
This week, Joe Stein, a 37-year-old taxi driver from England, discovered a two-inch-long dark mass hanging from a bunch of supermarket bananas.
A resident of England bought a bunch of bananas at Sainsbury's supermarket in West Wickham (a suburb of London) and was about to have breakfast, but noticed that something was stirring on the banana.
When he realized what was in front of him, he was extremely surprised. “It was a spider and it started moving and I screamed at my friend to stay out of the kitchen,” he says.
Upon closer inspection and after searching online, Stein decided it was a Brazilian wandering spider. Its Greek name Phoneutria translates as "killer" (feminine).
In the 2010 Guinness Book of Records, this genus was recognized as the most venomous among arachnids, although it has a rather limited distribution.
According to the Briton, he placed a box of bananas in a plastic container and covered it with a lid to immobilize the arthropod.
“We Googled it and there was a 99% chance that it was a Brazilian spider,” he explains. “I looked at several images and the spider looked identical: large limbs covered with hairs, a large belly, a small hump and a black line.”

According to the taxi driver, he was shocked when he learned that this is one of the most poisonous spiders.
The Brazilian spider bite is known to cause severe pain, vision problems, salivation and sweat, among other symptoms.

The venom of this genus contains a powerful neurotoxin known as PhTx3. This neurotoxin has potential therapeutic value, but in toxic concentration it causes loss of muscle control followed by respiratory arrest, leading to paralysis and eventually suffocation.
The bite is moderately painful, the poison causes an instant infection of the lymphatic system, entering the circulatory system in 85% of cases leads to heart failure.
Patients feel severe stiffness.
In this regard, the management of the supermarket stated that it was conducting an investigation: “We have written to customers with an apology. Cases like this are very rare.”
