May explode: Wisconsin brewery recalls unsafe beer

The Wisconsin Brewery recalled one of its beers because it was “at risk of explosion.” Writes about it New York Post.

The brewery turned to social networks to announce that anyone with bottles of beer to be recalled should either cool or dispose of them carefully. One of the ingredients used in the drink causes pressure, which continues to build up in the bottle, causing it to explode.

Lakefront Brewery made an announcement on Instagram stating that their “My Turn Junk” beer is recalling. The beer label says "sour beer with cherry and sakura." Apparently, cherry is "responsible" for the problem.

The report said that "wild cherry yeast used for cooking can continue to ferment, creating pressure in the bottles, which puts them at risk of explosion"

The brewery made a voluntary recall of the product after it received information that three bottles of this beer exploded. It is reported that no injuries or official complaints regarding the beer have been reported.

While bottles can be dangerous, beer is safe to drink. The problem seems to be completely related to the ongoing fermentation, causing an increase in pressure inside the bottle.

Michael Stodola, an employee at Lakefront Brewery, confirmed this problem. He said: “Work with such material is unpredictable. "This yeast continues to interact with sugar and continues to produce CO2, which creates pressure in the bottles."

Beer is part of the My Turn series, where each employee is given the opportunity to create their own beer. My Turn Junk was reportedly the creation of Andy Jungwirth. He was disappointed with this outcome and said that he doubted that the brewery would agree to make another batch of such beer.

The Lakefront Brewery offers a refund to customers who, by October 1, will get rid of their previously purchased My Turn Junk bottles and provide photos to prove that they did.
